FulguroPop – After the success of the 4 first episodes, you’ve said that 4 more are in postproduction, could you give us more details (subjects, release dates), please ?
Brian Volk-Weiss – The next four episodes are Transformers, LEGO, Hello Kitty, and Star Trek. These episodes will all come out in roughly 4 months.
FulguroPop – Are you a collector ? If you are, what do you collect ?
Brian Volk-Weiss – I am a collector for sure and the main lines I collect are Star Wars, GIJOE, Star Trek, Batman, RoboCop, and just about anything made by NECA!
FulguroPop – How do you explain the impact of toy industry on Pop culture ?
Brian Vol-Weiss – I think the toy industry has a tremendous impact on pop culture because toys, by the nature of what they are, are designed to be handled by very young children, and this puts a powerful impression into the minds of anyone from future artists to engineers, who will go on to design the world itself as they get older.
FulguroPop – We are happy you chose Netflix because it’s available in France at the time as in the US. Do you think such a show could have aired on a regular TV network ?
Brian Volk-Weiss – I think it could have but it would have been a different show.
FulguroPop – Do you already know whether TTTMU is considered a valuable show for Netflix ? Will they order another season ?
Brian Volk-Weiss -We know they are happy with how it’s performing, but we do not know if we are getting another season at this time.
FulguroPop – Is there any obscure toy line you’d like one day to make an episode on ?
Brian Vol-Weiss – I don’t think we’d ever do this, but if I could do something very selfish, and just for me, I’d probably do RoboCop toys, or maybe even a show dedicated to the maker of Teddy Ruxpin and Lazer Tag; World of Wonder.
FulguroPop – What’s your fondest memory about toys ?
Brian Vol-Weiss – Other than the birth of my children, my wedding day, shooting my first student film, and seeing the first film I produced in a movie theater, without a doubt one of my favorite memories is being about 8 years old and going to Kay Bee Toys and looking through HUNDREDS of star wars figures trying to find Luke Skywalker ROTJ outfit, and after ten to fifteen minutes I hear my mom say “Brian” and I turned around and saw her holding one.
FulguroPop – Thanks a lot, Brian !
